United Dance set to Shine on the Big Screen
United Dance Project would usually be performing their end of year showcase at this time of the year. Instead, they will be debuting their performances on the big screen, and yes, we mean the big, big screen.
Local, Odeon 5 Cinemas will screen 12 shows of the United Dance Project’s showcase, ‘REIMAGINED’ from December Monday 14- Thursday 17.
United Dance Project Principal Leesa said, “When we started to plan the concert, (we would normally do three big performances) the restrictions weren’t allowing us to move forward with our big plans, and for most of the kids it’s a highlight of the year.
“Our team still wanted to create a really big event for the kids so we decided to use the platform of filming and putting it into a movie style production.
“Our students (like everyone) have had a whole year of cancellations whether that be excursions, competitions or whatever else, and then everything has had to be moved online, so, we wanted to be able to provide something for the kids to look forward too and still being able to provide that ‘big moment’ for them this year.”
Filmed and edited by local company CCT Productions. At the time of our interview, Leesa mentioned she hadn’t seen the finished video product but was excited and very much looking forward to seeing it.
“When we told our students what they’d be doing they were so excited,” Leesa laughed. “As the history of this year they thought it probably wasn’t going to go ahead so had no idea what we had planned.
“And we were just so proud to how the students adapted, they were so dedicated in the classes and in the lead up to the production.”
The REIMAGINED production will feature dancers from two years old, who will be making their debut right through to 18 years old and will show students enjoying everything from classical ballet to cheerleading and everything in-between.
Tickets are available on the Odeon 5 website, with the community welcome to come along and watch.
