Hark, the herald angels sing!!
The sound of Christmas will ring out from North Court again this Saturday night when Council’s Carols by Candlelight will be held in Orange.
Once again a delightful night of family entertainment is assured with plenty of singing and entertainment that everyone will enjoy.
Orange Mayor Reg Kidd said, “The annual Orange Carols by Candlelight is my favourite family-friendly event of the year. This long-running event has been a well-attended by generation after generation of Orange residents.
“It’s wonderful to see thousands of Orange’s children, mums and Dads, Grandmas and Grandpas bring their picnic rug and their singing voices for a wonderful traditional Carols event. This year activities for the kids start at about 5.30pm at the North Court, where the little ones can have a turn on the merry-go-round and get their faces painted before the official program gets underway at about 7pm”.
All of the traditional classics will be performed by Orange Regional Conservatorium's Orchestra and Chamber Choir, the City of Orange Brass Band and the Canobolas Highland Pipe Band. There will also be a dance performance by Colour City Dance which will be sure to get you up and dancing.
“You’re welcome to bring your own picnic, but food will be provided by the Canobolas Lions Club food van. Glow stix and fake candles are also available for a few coins.
“I’ve also personally written to Santa Claus and requested he make a special appearance on the night. His elves told me he was incredibly busy this time of year, but Santa had heard that the children of Orange had been especially kind this year, so he’d try hard to pop-in,” said Cr Kidd.
Come and get into the Christmas spirit with friends and family at Carols by Candlelight this Saturday, December 8. It’s free entry and it’s on at North Court, behind the Civic Centre with the main event starting from 7pm.
