Our family – our life!

Any business that considers their customers as their “family” must have a special relationship with them.

Aaron Wright from Café Latte, when asked how he would describe his business in a few words said “it’s our family, it’s our life”. His highly regarded Chef, Cass Single, agreed whole-heartedly with Aaron saying, we have customers who come in every morning and the day wouldn’t be the same without them, they really are like the Café Latte family.

Aaron and his wife have owned Café Latte for 9 years, laughing that they took over on April Fool’s Day 9 years ago. Before buying it, they had been customers of the business, and always had a dream of owning a business in the hospitality industry. When the opportunity to buy Café Latte came up, they grabbed it.

In the 9 years since, the business has continued to enjoy a wonderful profile in Orange and has become a very popular eating spot, even Orange City Life sees this. Aaron sponsors our Lucky Birthday Competition each week with a $20 gift voucher and there are very few Monday mornings when several people aren’t lined up at our door wanting to be first to claim the prize.

Like most small business owners Aaron works long and hard to stay ahead of the game, especially in times like now when many retailers are feeling the strain of a slow down in our economy. To do this Aaron opens 7 days a week from 5am to serve people breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon teas or just their daily takeaway coffee. On top of this they have developed a strong catering business and now offering catering for all types of private and business functions, anything from finger food to fully catered dinners.

I asked Aaron what have been some of the satisfying things about owning and operating a business like his in Orange? He said Orange is a great place, it has unbelievable potential and looks forward to when the gap left by the Myer closure can be overcome. He mentioned several highlights of functions and events that he and his team had catered for, but one stands out. It was a Christmas function for a Church group. “We had to cater for 1500 people, something we had never done before. It was a case of all hands on deck, staff, family, friends and anyone else we could rope in. We absolutely knocked ourselves out, but the result was wonderful, happy customers and much satisfaction all round. Somehow, our Chef Cass and I still fronted up for work the next morning at 5am, we still laugh about that.” Aaron told me.

Café Latte is another Proud Orange Business and one well worth trying sometime, Chef Cass and her team really do a great job with the food they serve up, one of the reasons, people keep going back.
