Oh for the freedom and the fresh air
A local family have just returned home after 9 ½ months travelling Australia with their two young kids in a caravan, and they have the pictures to prove it.
Judging by their photos, it looks like it was a great adventure, maybe something others would like to consider. To get a feel for the family’s thinking, we caught up with Al Hattersley (Dad) to give us an insight into their travels and why they decided to pack up their life and hit the road.
“We travelled through NSW, VIC, QLD, NT and SA. I’m not sure what it was, but something triggered both of us to decide to sell our house and travel with the kids before the eldest started school.
“We thought it would be a challenge living in a small space seemingly on top of each other, however we were able to adapt pretty easily and take it all in our stride,” said Al.
Travelling always has a way of giving you a different outlook on life and this trip certainly changed some things for the whole family.
“It has been a life changing experience. Obviously, we consider ourselves very lucky to have done what we did but it has changed our outlook on life and given us courage to pursue new and various things without over-analysing them.
“We enjoyed most waking up to new adventures and the great unknown almost every day, we absolutely loved it, and it has been more difficult than we thought adjusting to life back home,” said Al.
