Orange get ready for the biggest Wiggliest show yet!

Adored by generations of children the world over, the Wiggles are returning to Orange for their brand new ‘Hello! We’re the Wiggles Live in Concert Tour’ this Saturday, April 29.

Tickets for the first two Orange shows sold out like “hot potatoes” so the group decided to announce a third and final show — and there’s still tickets available!

This Saturday, at 2.30pm children can get their “wiggle” on at the Orange Function Centre, while parents can bob along to the classic songs that’ll take them back to their own childhood.

Anthony, Tsehay, Simon, Lachy, Caterina, Lucia and John will be joined on stage by all your favourite Wiggly characters including Captain Feathersword, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus, Shirley Shawn the Unicorn and Bok the Hand Puppet!

Orange City Life was lucky enough to be able to catch up with Purple Wiggle himself, Lachy Gillespie, to chat about their brand-new show.

Believe it or not, Lachy has now been wearing the purple Wiggle jersey for 10 years!

“I only knew that because heaps of the Wiggles fans online posted congratulations on the ten years,” Lachy says with a laugh.

A dream job for many, Lachy certainly had to put in the hard yards for his role in the Wiggles.

“I studied musical theatre and then I got an audition for the Dorothy the Dinosaur show about 13 years ago, which was their kind of little character show that they took around while the Wiggles themselves were in other parts of the world. I did that for four years,” Lachy recalls.

“I finally got to meet the guys in 2012, just before they did their big ‘Farewell to the World’ tour, which I was lucky enough to go on… when the original guys retired I got asked to be the new Purple Wiggle.”

Reinventing themselves for a new generation of kids, the Wiggles have recently welcomed a number of new members and Lachy is excited for everyone to come and witness what he believes is the best show he’s been involved in.

“It’s been a fantastic tour. It’s kind of the biggest, and I think, one of the best shows we’ve ever taken out,” he says.

Lachy speaks fondly of past visits to Orange and says the group has many great memories in our city.

“We’ve been to Orange a lot of times but this is the first time they’ll get to see the seven, out of eight Wiggles out now, and there’s so much to see in the show!”

While the group's songs are aimed at entertaining children, Lachy says so many parents in the crowd now have grown up listening to the Wiggles and really enjoy the trip down memory lane.

“The children and the parents are just loving the show. It probably takes the parents by surprise a bit because it’s so different but so wonderful. There’s so much energy,” he says.

“It’s a very interactive show, it’s something we really thrive on. We really cater to the audience. It’s always interactive, always in the moment.

“If you want to bring signs, people can make signs and we’ll read them out during the show and we can’t wait to see everybody there!”

So grab your little ones, hop in the Big Red Car and don’t miss out on a “Wiggly” show to remember!
