Matthew Farrelly finds voice through art Solo art exhibition this Saturday
Local artist Matthew Farrelly may not be able to speak, but he lets his paintbrush do the talking for him.
This Saturday afternoon, November 18, Matt is having an exhibition of his work at the Ever Upward Church Hall, at the corner of Churchill and Glenroi Avenues.
Matt’s disabilities mean he is non-verbal and unable to stand or walk unaided, but through his love of painting, he is able to express his thoughts and feelings about the world around him.
Art has been a life-long passion for Matt, who first showed interest at the age of four. It also runs in the family as his siblings are also gifted artists.
Matthew loves to have movement in his work and paints ethereally with bright, vibrant colours.
Matt’s mother Wendy says he finds pleasure in being able to express himself and his ideas on the canvas.
Matthew has contributed art to many local exhibitions where he has sold paintings and won prizes.
This Saturday’s solo exhibition will be open from 12.30pm to 6pm, Matt himself will be there at 2.40pm
All paintings sold at the exhibition will help support Matt in his passion for art.
