Orange songwriter Darren Smith shares stories behind his tracks

Orange-based singer/songwriter Darren Smith will perform tracks from his latest LP ‘Brave’ along with previous work at a special “Live and Kicking: Meet the Songwriter” performance at The Agrestic Grocer Orange on Friday, February 25.

Darren Smith has been performing his music to audiences across the Central West since 2017 when he returned to music after a 20-year break. As well as being a talented musician, Darren is also a full-time paramedic.

Daz, as he is better known, has built up a strong loyal following of fans who connect with his songs about life, love and loss. He released the EP ‘Dive into You’ in 2018 and his first LP ‘Brave’ in 2021.

His distinctive acoustic country/rock sound is a tribute to his musical influences of Keith Urban, John Mayer and U2. Darren melds these into heartfelt lyrics, addictive hook lines and unique guitar styling within his original material.

“Arts OutWest is pleased to be working with The Agrestic Grocer to present another in a series of Meet the Songwriter sessions featuring Original music artists from the Central West,” Music Industry Support Officer Patrick Coomey said.

The first Meet the Songwriter Session on February 4 featured Orange’s Robbie Mortimer and was a sold-out event

Arts OutWest’s Live & Kicking shows are funded through the Australian government’s Live Music Australia program. It allows local audiences to see top music artists from the region at discounted ticket prices as well as supporting venues that champion live original music.
