Skillset looking online with your new recruits
Trade jobs – not Arts degrees in post-modernist feminist thought – are the future for many of our youngest and brightest with jobs growth in technical fields now the best they have been for decades.
With COVID-19 suddenly making living and earning in a regional community a whole lot more attractive, getting a trade-level accreditation and working in your own home-town is now a more realistic goal for so many young school-leavers.
With this in mind, Skillset recently launched their Skillset Jobs Facebook Page for Regional Communities throughout the Central Tablelands.
The launch of this platform is separate from Skillset’s current Facebook page which is more a general news advisory of current work at the job provider and to celebrate the people of Skillset and their achievements.
The new portal is, however, in direct response to an exciting boom in local job opportunities for those with trade, certificate, and diploma-level qualifications.
The COVID-19 lockdown has accelerated what was already an increasing trend towards social media for those looking to new areas of growth for job placement for their specialist recruits, Skillset General Manager Jane McWilliam said.
“As people move towards social media for timely information, especially while we are spending more time at home, Skillset identified a gap in the market to deliver local opportunities in a targeted way,” Ms McWilliam said.
“Skillset can proudly say that while it is an uncertain time, we are continuously committed to providing life-changing opportunities for our region and have no shortage of roles for job-seekers.
“To showcase these opportunities, we now have a great platform for our community to gain real-time updates.”
Residents in Regional NSW can now follow and like Skillset Jobs on Facebook to stay up to date with all the latest local job opportunities Skillset have on offer.
The group’s role is to fill the training and jobs gap for potential employees with life-changing opportunities for people and communities in regional NSW.
As well as the new Facebook facility, Skillset offers a range of services including recruitment, apprenticeship and traineeship services, skills development and mentoring programs as well as alternative senior school education pathways.
“Skillset is committed to generating employment opportunities through education and skills development for people across the region,” Ms McWilliam concluded.
