Orange Hospital wants to say “thank-you” to all its generous donors.

Normally, they’d do this in person at a special annual morning tea where the thousands of dollars’ worth of donated equipment is displayed and the kind donors acknowledged. Things being as they are, Orange Hospital is currently unable to hold this annual event, General Manager, Catherine Nowlan said.

“Because of the unusual circumstances we are in, we are simply unable to do our face-face celebrations and for the individual managers to thank the donors,” she explained.

With health on everyone’s mind at the moment, the list of those organisations who have positively contributed with funds and equipment to the Hospital is both extensive and varied.

This ranges from urinalysis machines and ECGs from Roundabout and Rotary; breast pumps and gas evac pedestals from Orange Premi-Babes Association; Biers block torniquets, cleanspace masks, and Portacount mask testers from Cadia Mines; a 12-lead ECG from Friends Assisting the Community; and the Bililux healing light for premature-babies from Humpty Dumpty,

One of the most consistent of groups that have given is the Hospital Auxiliary with thousands of dollars of equipment ranging from gamma probes, hoist slings, tilt shower commodes, retractors, three-D printers; QA software; and wheelchairs.

The Auxiliary also gave about $120,000 directly towards compassionate drugs for patients with the local Lions Club also donating $5000 towards nurses education.

“We do this ‘thanks’ traditionally at the end of the financial year because this is when these organisations all do their financial-year reconciliations,” Ms Nowlan explained.

“Many of our patients and their families comes from outside of Orange, and the generosity of local groups in supporting the hospital is much-appreciated.

“We’re very fortunate here in Orange for the support of a lot of these groups in the community, we’re extremely grateful,” Ms Nowlan concluded.
