Trees and wine normally don’t go together, but a central west winery has created a new promotion combining both at the same time.

Local organic wine producer, Tamburlaine is offering wine-lovers the chance to enjoy an organically-produced drop while helping tree-planting organisation, Planet Ark do their good work.

The promotion, in collaboration with television personality Jamie Durie, will see every bottle of a small batch of wines called ‘True Earth Collective’ helping towards tree-planting efforts by the environmental group.

For each bottle of the wine purchased, $2 will go towards Planet Ark’s National Tree Day supporting their efforts to plant over one million new trees, shrubs, and grasses each year.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Jamie and Planet Ark on a project that is so synergistic with our values,” Tamburlaine’s Chief Winemaker, Mark Davidson said.

“Tamburlaine has prioritised organic and regenerative farming practices across our vineyards for over two decades now. We’re staunch believers that it’s the way forward for winemaking and more broadly for agriculture in Australia,” he added.

“I am passionate about the need to honour and heal our land,” Mr Durie added.

“This collaboration with Tamburlaine was born through the mutual respect for land and how it’s managed.

“We are tremendously excited to see this project from conception through to completion.”

Mr Durie has hosted a number of gardening and reality television shows since the 1990s and has also guest-appeared at the world-renowned Chelsea Flower Show.

The presenter said that increased tree-planting has always been a passion.

“I’ve been an ambassador for National Tree Day since 1999 and worked with Planet Ark on environmental initiatives for over 27 years,” Mr Durie said.

Planet Ark works with the community and businesses to reduce our impact on the environment It is best known for its high-profile recycling campaigns including 'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark', Australia's 'National Recycling Week' and the country's biggest annual community tree-planting event, National Tree Day.

The three wines in the “True Earth” collection all have strong local links.

The “Wild Chardonnay”, “Malbec Shiraz” and “Cabernet Shiraz” varieties were each selected from Tamburlaine’s organic vineyards at both Orange and Canowindra.
