Calling Young Farmers of the Orange Region
Do you have what it takes to be the ‘Young Farmers Challenge’ Champion?!
Roll up your shirt sleeves and whack on those boots, thanks to generous sponsors and hard-working volunteers, the Young Farmers Challenge is on again at the Orange Show, May 9-11.
The Young Farmers Challenge is an opportunity for our younger generation to compete at either a local, state or national level, often showcasing safety procedures and everyday practices in the farming and/or agricultural world, and of course, having a lot of fun along the way.
The last time the young farmers challenge was held, was back in 2015, the challenge ran a few years in a row before making way for other events at the show, Orange Show Society Committee members are very excited to see its return.
“There is a lot to take from this challenge,” said volunteer and member of the Youth Committee for the Orange Show, Josie O’Neil. “It’s going to be a lot of fun. You’ll meet new people, and team building is always fun when you're with a group of your mates.
“We hope it is a successful event that brings the community together for a good time at our local show whether you are competing or just watching, you might be participating in something you've never tried and getting new life skills and I'm sure so much more.”
There are a few requirements needed to enter this challenge including ID for proof of age, and one member needs to hold either a P1, P2 or full licence for the driving section, sensible clothing is a must. There are also some great prizes that can be won on the day.
Josie continued, “I’d like to give thanks and a shout out the all the amazing sponsors that are sponsoring not just my event but others as well, we appreciate it so very much.”
The Young Farmers Challenge requires teams of four, aged from 18-35 years old and must include both men and women.
