Give me $14,5000 for Kids!
Orange Lions Club’s fundraising efforts have added $14,500 to the coffers of local children’s charity Give Me 5 For Kids.”
“The club was overwhelmed by the support that they received from the Orange community including the ladies in the Oaktree Village Craft Group as well a group of ladies in Molong known as ‘The 3 Grannies,’” said Lions Club member and fundraising coordinator Graeme Eggleston.
Not the types who look for recognition, The 3 Grannies simply said ‘they were only too pleased to help’, as they know what the charity does for kids from the Orange and Molong communities.
Handing over the cheque for $14,500 last Thursday, Orange Lions Club President Peter Fuge said the money will help Give ME 5 for Kids make a big difference at the Children's Ward at Orange Hospital.
“The money will be used to provide specialised equipment which will allow more children to be treated in Orange without having to go to Sydney,” said Peter.
“We all know how hard it is for families when they are split up through parents having to go to Sydney with the sick child, leaving other siblings behind to be looked after by friends or relatives.”
But none of this would have been possible without the help of the Orange and Molong Communities,” he said.
“We cannot thank them enough for their generosity, which helped make this project a huge success."
“We were very excited to receive the donation supporting our charity Give Me 5 For Kids,” said Neil Gill Triple MMM Breakfast Announcer.
“We’re overwhelmed with the final result as well as the amazing support from Graeme, his team, and the various community groups involved. It's comforting to acknowledge that all monies raised stay local and will assist the Give Me 5 For Kids in buying badly needed specialised equipment for the children’s ward.”
