Olympian shares her wisdom at OAGS
Last week Orange Anglican Grammar School hosted an exciting guest to their grounds, Olympian Eloise Wellings. Eloise is a two time Olympian and nine times National Champion over 5000m and 10,000-metre track events.
While visiting the school Eloise spent time with female Secondary Students in a Q&A session and ran a training session for students from Year 2 through to Year 12.
In her training session, students were given the opportunity to participate in a high-performance session that focused on warmups, running drills, dynamic stretching and short anaerobic fitness sessions, while also looking at mental skills such as dealing with nerves, performing under pressure and thriving when it counts.
Eloise explained to students after their session, “Motivation follows movement. Sometimes when we feel unmotivated, not feeling like we really want to run or train, it’s always important to go and do the first thing, just do something.
“Most people think they have to be motivated to actually do something, when that’s not the case.
Eloise also busted a huge myth. “People think Olympians are always really motivated – it’s just not true, we are all human and we can feel unmotivated. Sometimes it’s a matter of not overthinking it and just getting out and doing it and motivation will follow.”
Are you feeling motivated to get out there and take the first step? We are!
