The Auckland city skyline. Viewed from the highest volcanic peak in the mainland Mount Eden, also known as Maungawhau. The term ‘Maungawhau’ is  from the native Maori language that means ‘mountain or hill of the whau tree’. The crater is something quite spectacular when seen from above, the volcano’s last eruption is thought to have been around 28,000 years ago as quite evident from its lush outlook.
