Leigh and B Chop for RMH
Leigh Williamson and her son Balian (in year 7) will soon undergo ‘the chop’ in an effort to raise $5,000 for Ronald McDonald House.
Leigh has had donating her hair for cancer research on her mind for quite some time and has said in her own words, ‘why don’t I kill two birds with one stone’ she will be doing just that alongside her son, with Leigh’s hair to be donated to Sustainable Salons, to be made into wigs for Variety Australia and Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation.
Leigh explained, “My nephew was born prematurely in Brisbane, my brother and sister- in-law lived in Mount Isa, without the help of Ronald McDonald House my brother and sister in law wouldn’t be able to see their newborn every day and neither of his parents would've been able to be there at a moment's notice. It’s very close to home when family is involved.”
Her eldest son Balian (B) decided to join in Leighs effort’s in the hope to create more awareness around the charities.
“I am super proud, there are no words, he has a heart as tall as himself. I’m just so proud. To him, hair is hair, he will always grow it back, he’s a sweetheart. Both my boys are very kind-hearted and sweet. We love doing things for others and we love the work Ronald McDonald House Charities and all the volunteers do. RMH Orange is situated in such a beautiful area.” The Williamson’s donation will be given to RMH Charities, with the hope it stays local.
“The more people that know about Ronald McDonald House Charities, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing our page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!”
The chop will take place on July 18, at Leighs 40th Birthday Party, Leigh smiled, “There’s no doubt my husband will be handing around a hat for donations, he has been very supportive.”
To help the Williamson family head online to ‘Everyday Hero’ and search Leigh and B’s big hair chop.
