Ain’t Nothin’ Gonna Break-a their Stride
You’d be forgiven if you were in the Blayney vicinity last week and thought Matthew Wilder was in town. The fun-loving staff of St Joseph’s Primary School Blayney were having the time of their lives as they re-created a video to the classic, ‘Break my Stride.’
St Josephs, Blayney Principal, Mrs Kerrie Basha explained, “I was at home with my daughters [Allie and Liv] just talking about the stress that is being placed on our families and staff at the moment, especially with all of the rapid changes in the world and in education. We were talking about ways that I could try and make things a little bit lighter in the workplace.
We came up with the idea to change the words to a song and make a little music clip that would be punchy and would be a tune that would stick in people’s heads throughout the day that they couldn’t quite rid of and be a little bit cheesy as well.”
The remaining staff or should we say, the ‘JOEYS-9’ put their best foot forward in their efforts for the music video with their initial reaction being, ‘Yes, let’s do it!’
“They are a crazy bunch here, they love to enjoy a bit of fun, they love music and they aren’t frightened to put themselves out there,” said Kerrie.
“The mood here is really engaging and really light, even in these difficult times there’s still a place for that contagious happiness, and that’s really important. We have a strong belief in the importance of wellbeing and the wellbeing of our children, just as much as our families and our staff.”
After uploading the video to Facebook, and as you’d expect, the video gained a lot of interaction minutes, many commenting on the brilliance of the staff’s efforts, with one comment reading, ‘Our children are the luckiest kids in Australia right now.’
“It’s achieved what we’ve wanted it to achieve,” said Kerrie. “We wanted to bring some joy, so not everything becomes doom and gloom. As we said in our write up on Facebook, ‘OK the virus is contagious, but so is fun and so is laughter, and we mustn’t forget those contagious things either.”
Check out the video on the ‘St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Blayney’ Facebook page.
Will they make a cameo comeback appearance? We will all have to stay tuned.
