Ride for Judd

All of the elements were thrown their way, yet the vision of 16 cyclists riding into Orange, to a crowd cheering them on was a truly touching one.

Over 230kms were covered as the ‘Ride for Judd’ event began in Sydney, finishing on Saturday at the Gladstone Hotel.

As they reached Orange, Judd had the chance to jump on the bike with his Dad and rode in, followed by the dedicated support crew whether they be friends and family.

Efforts were huge as over $110,000 was raised for Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney.

Mum, Alana Cantrill said, “To everyone in the ‘team’ we are forever grateful for you! I can’t express in words what this means to our family. They are incredible people who will always have a special place in our hearts.

“What the riders have done for Judd and the RMHC is extremely selfless! Josh and I cannot thank you all enough for your dedication and the amount enough it took to achieve our goal.”

Judd’s uncle, Jake Johnston explained the ride as one of the most amazing experiences of his life.

“I’m so proud of all of the lads,” said Jake, “It was a huge effort, and it was an honour to do it with them.

“To all our support team we couldn’t have done it without you! With over 30 flat tyres, countless cramps, a truck load of supplements and everything in-between, they got us home.

“Thank you to all the sponsors that got behind us, just another reason to always shop local and support your town. Support them and they’ll support you.

“To everyone that donated from the bottom of my heart thank you! With all the negativity in the world these days it’s a beautiful change when everyone digs deep for a great cause.

“Last year it was running, this year it was riding. I’m not sure how we’re going to top this one, but we’re open to ideas.”
