Fergus en pointe for Brisbane Ballet

Nine-year-old dancer Fergus Johnson is one step closer to reaching his ballet dream after being offered a position in the Brisbane City Youth Ballet’s 2020 season performance of the ‘Magic Faraway Tree’.

The Brisbane City Youth Ballet had over 200 dancers audition from all over the country and Fergus was among just 87 offered places.

Fergus will travel up to Brisbane in January for two weeks of intense rehearsals before dancing in five performance over the 24th and 25th of January.

Fergus, who has been dancing at Orange Dance HQ for the past five years, said his dream is to one day dance at the Opera House… but he mostly likes ballet because It's fun!

“Fergie also recently competed in the Orange Eisteddfod and he won the Junior Local Scholarship which is a really good achievement,” said Dance HQ owner Emily Goodwin.

“So, this is just another one in his bag for the year, he's doing really well!”
