Tractors trekking to help bush kids

Graeme Press is preparing to take his 1968 Chamberlain champion 306 on a little trek around Dubbo next week — all in the name of a good cause.

For the past five years, tractor enthusiasts like Graeme have been getting together to raise funds for Central West children and their families.

This year, the Central West Charity Tractor Trek will be held on the 27th, 28th, 29th of September visiting the Western Plains Zoo, Wongarbon, Beni, and Geurie.

“Last year it was Molong and this year we're at Dubbo,” said Graeme. “It's a three-day thing, just drive around the country venues and country roads, that sort of stuff. I think there'll be about 24 tractors this year — all shapes and sizes! We just get out and enjoy ourselves!”

Although it is a bit of fun, the Central West Charity Tractor Trek Group was created to raise money for those in need. This year they hope to raise $80,000 for Little Wings, a not-for-profit organisation that provide a free flight and ground transport service for children from rural and regional NSW to access specialised medical services and treatment in major centres.
