Anonymous donor buys new home for education charity
Stories from the Heart of Orange
Being generous is something that many Australians are good at, but sometimes we hear of someone doing something really special. This is one of those stories.
A large anonymous donation to the Country Education Foundation of Australia has allowed them to buy a new national office.
The remarkable donation has meant the education charity could purchase outright, a small business property here in Orange to house the organisation’s head office team.
“We are profoundly grateful to our anonymous supporter who shares our values and aspirations for young Australians, in furthering their education with all the challenges facing country communities,” said CEF chairman Nick Burton Taylor.
“Investing in our future allows us to invest in theirs and helps secure the viability of smaller country communities.”
Country Education Foundation of Australia was established 26 years ago in Boorowa, NSW by the Burton Taylor family. It was created to financially support young rural and regional Australian students who wish to further their education.
Grants are given to help buy textbooks and laptops for uni students, purchase tools and equipment for apprentices or assists people relocate to take up career opportunities.
The charity has supported over 580 students this year, and more than 5000 young people to date.
The formal Country Education Foundation of Australia head office launch will take place in October 2019.
