A Sea of Purple and Yellow
Students at Catherine McAuley were invited to wear a splash of yellow and purple last week in support of the Cancer Council and Relay for Life.
Teacher, Georgie Hayden said, “In the classroom we have spoken about how there are a lot of families who have been touched either personally or they know of someone that may have cancer. We are trying to raise awareness, not only for those people, also what goes on behind the scenes involving doctors and the nurses.”
Students were asked to bring a gold coin donation for the day. “It’s a good cause that we can raise money for in our community.”
11-year-old year 6 student, Molly Dunn explained, “Today is about raising money for people who have cancer and the Cancer Council so we can find better ways and cures for those suffering with cancer. It makes me feel so happy that people in this world are able to show people who are less fortunate and can’t have the same opportunities as us, that we support them.”
