Take your adventures off-road
Always wanted to put your four-wheel-drive vehicle through its paces, but don’t know where to begin?
On Saturday, 23 February 2019, the Canobolas 4WD Club are holding their first of several ‘come and try’ days for the year. Anyone interested in responsible four wheel driving is welcome to come out to the club’s purpose built four-wheel-drive track, learn new skills and find out the benefits of being a club member.
“We do driver training and recovery training so people with no four-wheel-driving skills can learn in a safe and controlled environment how to use their vehicle, how get themselves out of trouble and -preferably - how not to put themselves in trouble in the first place,” said Canobolas 4WD Club President Neville Barden.
The club holds regular monthly activities both locally and trips to destinations around the state.
“We are going to try and run at least two activities a month, which will vary in degrees of difficulty. Quite often we do go away, so at the start of March we will be going to Wyangala Waters and in mid-March I'll take another trip down to Rydal to a four-wheel-drive track and we normally do a trip to Stockton beach and do four-wheel-drive training on the sand, so that will be coming up,” said Neville.
“It is always fun, you always get to see plenty of different places. The advantages of having a four-wheel-drive is you generally get to go where other people can't and being part of the NSW Association, we also have exclusive rights to go to certain areas that the public are locked out of, so that's another benefit of being in the club.”
New members will also benefit from the wealth of knowledge within the club.
“I'm pretty confident that I can say members of the club have covered nearly every square inch of Australia, so undoubtedly we have got someone who has got first-hand knowledge of a destination if someone was contemplating doing a trip,” said Neville.
“And, of course, we can help setting up their vehicles; the right and the wrong things to bring. People overpack and we can certainly assist them with that sort of information as well.
