We’ve started the ball rolling…
Our 2019 Community Project to ‘Put Orange First’ is up and rolling. Now it’s a case of seeing how much traction we can get. If enough people get behind it, who knows what good we may be able achieve together.
Let me therefore encourage you.
We are putting a number of things in place, all designed to take Orange forward faster than it’s currently travelling. Some reading this will be satisfied with our City’s progress, others will think the exact opposite. Where ever you sit, one thing we’ll all agree on – we can always do things better.
By things, I don’t mean moving mountains overnight, there’s a place for that and it’ll take more than us to make those things happen. We can contribute to discussions about these, but we’d be kidding ourselves to think we alone, could make anything big happen. Where I believe we can make a difference is in the smaller areas, those areas that are often taken for granted or overlooked.
I’m thinking more about how we can improve the image of Orange, the look of Orange, the way people feel about our City, and the way we talk about Orange to others. Orange, indeed anywhere, can be a great place with or without a major tourist attraction, a MYER department store or anything else. It’s just a case of working with what you have and maximising your opportunities. Perception is reality as they say. If Orange can become well known for being a vibrant, happy, pretty city, and full of friendly people, trust me! life will be better for everyone and on all fronts.
Stay tuned!
