Council launches community calendar

Orange City Council is excited to launch the latest feature of the Council’s new website, a community generated events calendar.

The community calendar is available for all members of the community to list their public events for free.

Orange Mayor Reg Kidd said Council was committed to engaging more openly with the community.

“This calendar is a way for great community events such as fetes, community markets and fundraisers to spread the word on a trustworthy and busy platform,” Cr Kidd said.

“We want to help these events get the attendance they deserve and we want Orange residents to be able to see everything that’s on and all in the one place.

“The new website has been received well and has been visited by more than 14,000 people since it launched last month.”

Events can be added to the Council calendar by any event organiser who is hosting an event within a 50 kilometre radius of Orange central business district, it’s a public event and has a broad appeal to the community.

Commercial business are also welcome to add events such as live music nights, markets or trivia competitions.

“We want to encourage people to get out and about and see everything our great city, and its surrounds, has to offer,” Cr Kidd said.

“Go to the Council calendar once a week and pencil in an activity, you’d be hard pressed to not find something you want to go to.

“Be a tourist in your own town and find out why everyone wants to visit Orange.”
