You could make Australia Day great!
Council is looking for energetic people to come on board and make sure Orange’s Australia Day festivities in Cook Park remain one of the highlights of the social calendar.
The Orange City Council Australia Day committee now has several openings, a wonderful opportunity for people to come on board with fresh ideas, said Orange Mayor Reg Kidd.
“It’s always good to look at how we do things and consider new ideas,” Cr Kidd said.
“It’s a great opportunity to develop skills such as project management and event management, as well as corporate meeting skills and organisational skills.”
“It’s also a great chance to give back to the community in a really fun and engaging way.”
Committee Chair Katherine Tollner said the recent departure of a long serving committee member Ann Hailes would be strongly felt.
“Ann Hailes has been on the committee for 22 years,” Mrs Tollner said. “22 years of enthusiastic service and dedication to making Orange’s Australia Day celebrations inclusive and a great family day out.”
Mrs Tollner said Ms Hailes was a strong advocate for the day and a wonderful contributor to the team.
“I’d like to thank her on behalf of the committee and of Orange for all she has done. She will be truly missed on the committee,” she said.
The committee meets monthly on a Wednesday evening throughout the second half of the year.
