We’re away!

Following an early response to Orange City Life’s Food for Life initiative from business owners, the first 20 bales of Lucerne hay have been purchased from Furney’s Stock Feeds and distributed to a local farmer who is battling the current drought.

This is the first of what we hope will be several deliveries and comes following a tip from a reader about a local farmer who is struggling. The lady in question wants to come and hug me but I said it’s not me you should hug but the business owners who donated the money. I have given her their names.

Full details of our Food for Life initiative, and how you can be involved, are into today’s issue of Orange City Life on page 14.

We’ll keep you up to date with how things progress.

Please note: Our Food for Life initiative is as much about providing encouragement to those who may be despairing at this time, as it is about providing food or fodder. On that note, let me encourage you to read a piece sent in by a reader in this week’s issue of Orange City Life. It’s on page 24 and it’s called Rain from Nowhere.
