Ladies Day Show ‘n Shine for The Orchard

The Gnoo Blas Classic Car Club’s Ladies Day Show n Shine is back for a second year and promises to be bigger and better, with more cars, markets, and more at the Naylor Pavilion on Sunday, December 1.

Gnoo Blas Classic Car Club Vice President Linda Ogilvie said the initial ladies’ Show n Shine was created as a bit of a response to the annual Big Boys Toys Car and Truck Show held at West Orange Motors, but it looks set to continue on as an annual event.

“I have cars and I drive them and they're registered in my name and I just felt that it was a bit one-sided that the men had Big Boys Toys, so we came up with a concept of having a ladies day car show,” Linda said, adding that since the inaugural Ladies Show n Shine in 2023, the Gnoo Blas Classic Car Club has seen an influx of new female members.

The Ladies Day Show n Shine on December 1 is open to both members and non-members, Linda said. If you have access to a classic, historic, antique, or vintage car, you are welcome to take part.

“It’s a $10 entry fee to enter your car in the show and we've got 10 trophy categories,” she said. You can share your car with your husband, just as long as you're a woman driver, you can enter.”

The Show n Shine itself will get underway at 10am, but drivers are encouraged to take part in an informal street parade at 9am.

“We're having the ladies and their cars and bikes meet at the Orange Function Centre at 8.45am for a quick drive and parade up the Orange main street before heading over to the Naylor Pavilion,” Linda said.

Judging will take place between 10am and 12 noon, with the trophy presentation taking place at 1pm.

Just as all proceeds from the Big Boys Toys Car and Truck Show are donated to local cancer charity Can Assist Orange, Linda said money raised at the Show n Shine will be donated to The Orchard, the Housing Plus-operated refuge for women and children escaping domestic violence.

“It's a gold coin donation for anyone who comes through the gates to have a look and the money's all going to Housing Plus. We donated, I think it was about six or seven hundred dollars last year… Housing Plus raised over $500 just from selling sausage sandwiches, and it’s only going to be bigger this year,” Linda said

“I am aware that there are people from Cowra and Young coming, which is good and there's a market with over 25 food and market stalls included this year —- so, bigger and better!”

The Ladies Day Show n Shine takes place at the Naylor Pavilion on Sunday, December 1. Market will run from 9am to 2pm with the Show n Shine commencing at 10am. For more information visit: gnooblas.com/ladies-day-all-welcome
