Hometown theatre gig a 20-year dream come true
Get ready for an unforgettable night at the Orange Civic Theatre as local country star Robbie Mortimer takes the stage for a headline show that’s been 20 years in the making.
The last twelve months have been huge for Robbie Mortimer. From performing at rodeo arenas all around Australia as the PBR’s resident artist to massive festival gigs and skyrocketing streaming numbers, Robbie ‘s heading into 2025 with a lot of momentum.
“I've had a massive, massive year, which has been really special… a lot of things happening going in the right direction and probably the biggest year of my career so far!” says Robbie.
“The PBR has been incredible… I've been contracted for the last two seasons; flying all over Australia and playing at these sold-out arenas has just been the most incredible opportunity for me!
“I've got about 1.5 million streams since March, which is incredible… at shows, to see people singing all these songs that I wrote and being excited for what I'm doing, it's really special!”
On November 29, Robbie will be back in town performing at the Orange Civic Theatre, in what he says will be the most significant show of his career so far.
“The Civic Theatre show is… honestly, it’s been a 20-year dream of mine,” says Robbie.
“I was saying to someone the other day that I was the Scarecrow at my Bletchington school play when I was 10 years old and I remember being on that stage and thinking, I'm going to sell this out one day.
“Twenty years later I have the opportunity to do that, so it's a bit of a pinch-me moment! I've worked really, really hard to get to this position and I'm very proud of that, but the job's not done. Now I've got to sell this out!”
Robbie’s headline show in Orange comes hot on the heels of the release of his latest single Good Times & Tan Lines. It’s his fifth release of the year and a feel-good summer anthem born out of an unforgettable festival experience on a Florida beach.
“Everybody was smiling, loving their life, and all gathered for the same thing, which was the love of country music. I saw a sign that said ‘Good Times & Tan Lines’... I took a photo of it and thought, I’m going to write a song about this exact feeling,” says Robbie.
“It's a really fun, upbeat, and happy summer song and the response has been really amazing!”
Along with all his current hits, Robbie says the Orange Civic Theatre show will be a bit of a journey throughout his career, with a selection of unreleased tracks and insight into the stories behind the music
“The songs that I wrote here in my bedroom in Orange, and then songs that I have written over in Nashville with some of the world's best-ever songwriters… I'm bringing people on the journey and showing them where I've been and where I'm about to go,” says Robbie.
“A good blend of storytelling and great musicianship. However, there's always going to be that kind of high-energy country rock that you'd expect at a Robbie Mortimer show as well! “I've got a six-piece band with me and we've put so much effort into this show. It's going to be the biggest and best that you've ever seen Robbie Mortimer! I'm really excited for it!”
Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to Robbie’s music, this show will be an experience not to be missed. Join Robbie Mortimer and his band for his Good Times & Tan Lines Tour at the Orange Civic Theatre, 7.30pm on Friday, November 29.
