Emerging local artist Caz Mackenzie is on her way

It was after having her first child, says Caz Mackenzie, that she realised she needed to do something 'just for me'.

Looking for a creative outlet, Caz took some 1-on-1 painting lessons with her friend Nicky, an art teacher and now owner of the art supply store, The Little Art Nook.

And that was it; Caz was hooked! Continually looking to learn and grow, Caz has been developing her own 'style' over the last five years.

Her new exhibition 'On My Way' is an expression of the landscape near and far; as well as her creative journey to becoming an artist.

Caz loves to paint vibrant and contemporary landscapes in acrylic and watercolour. Often adding bright and happy colours to her paintings.

Inspiration for her art often comes from momentary glimpses out a car window on a Sunday drive in the country with her husband and two children; which evokes memories of her own childhood.

She is often seen with her mini portable watercolour kit, painting and sketching whenever possible. She loves the rolling hills, clouds, vast open skies, and sunsets of rural Australia.

Her art is uncomplicated and something beautiful for viewers to enjoy, perhaps sparking their own memories and imagination.

Caz is the Orange Art Society’s August feature artist. All are welcome to attend the official opening of her exhibition 'On My Way' at Orange Art Society gallery on Sunday, August 13, from 2–4 pm. Scan the QR code to RSVP

That gallery is located in the Cultural Centre, with access from the Woolworths Carpark opposite Harris Farm.

‘On My Way’ will remain on display in the gallery until September 8.
