Rick Price tips his hat to his Soul-era heroes

Australian singer/songwriter and 1990s pop star, Rick Price's national “Soulville” tour hits Orange this Friday, May 13.

“Soulville” is the 10th studio album for Price, who shot to international success with hit singles ‘Not A Day Goes By’, ‘Walk Away, Renee’, and ‘Heaven Knows’, for which he also received the APRA Song Of The Year Award in 1992.

Tomorrow night at the Agrestic Grocer, Price will perform all 12 tracks from the “Soulville” album, which is a celebration of legendary soul classics from the 1960s including Eddie Floyd’s ‘Knock On Wood’, ‘Walk On By’ by Dionne Warwick, the immortal Aretha Franklin’s ‘Chain Of Fools’ and ‘Soulville’, Martha and the Vandellas ‘Dancing In The Streets’, and a stirring version of Sam Cooke’s ‘A Change is Gonna Come’.

The one original track on “Soulville” is ‘Farewell But Not Goodbye’, a tribute to the “Queen of Soul” herself — the late great Aretha Franklin — written by Price and fellow Aussie hitmaker, John Capek.

Rick Price’s “Soulville” is at The Agrestic Grocer, Orange, from 6pm. Go to www.rickprice.com for more details.
