200 golfers set to contest 2021 Veterans Golf Classic

Veteran golfers from all over NSW and interstate will converge on Orange next week for the 24th year of the City of Orange Veterans Golf Classic.

The 54-hole tournament is one of the most unique veterans golf competitions in the state. Beginning on March 1, Orange's two golf courses — Duntryleague and Wentworth — will host about 200 golfers from more 60 clubs from as far afield as Mt Coolum in QLD and Wodonga in Victoria.

Steve Bray from Wentworth, who was last year’s winner of the Men’s Open Stableford Scratch event will be playing again to defend his title. And there is some thought competition with 11 players with single figure handicaps in the Men's competition this year.

Gillian Wood from Bayview was the Open Stableford net winner for the ladies last year and is also returning for 2021. The lowest marker for the ladies this year is Gail Pottenger (10) from Kiama.

The NSWVGA 'Week of Golf ' trophy for Men and Ladies will be contested over 18 holes at Wentworth Golf Club on Tuesday (March 2).

Registration will be on Sunday, February 28th at Duntryleague, from 2pm – 5pm.

Men and women will play on the same course each day. Wentworth will be the venue on Monday and Tuesday and after a rest day on Wednesday, golfers will play the final round of the 54 Hole competition at Duntryleague on Thursday (March 4).

An 18-hole 4BBB Medley stableford on Friday (March 5) completes the week's events.
