Players Better Hurry! PCYC calls for Futsal referee and team registrations

Futsal season is flying around the corner and ready for kick off just in time for players to enjoy PCYC’s newly resurfaced courts later this month. With nominations open for teams closing on November 8.

“If you’re interested in playing futsal this season, make sure to get your team nominations in before the cut-off date. All players will need to have their double vaccinations too,” says Troy O’Keeffe, PCYC’s Senior Activities Officer.

“After that, we will get underway for kick off on November 12, which I’m looking forward to seeing how many teams we’ll end up with for this season.”

The first game of the 2021 season will start at 4pm on a Sunday. Total of 4 games will be played simultaneously during each timeslot that will see roughly 28 games being held throughout the evening.

This time last year, PCYC saw their maximum amount of teams reaching 59 in total and roping in 300 registered players coming together for the indoor sport under one roof.

“We’re hoping to match those numbers for this upcoming season. Last year, it was big, we had 2 divisions for the men’s due to the amount of teams we had. Almost 2 divisions for the mixed.

Currently, from what we’ve seen coming in so far, it looks like we’re getting much more junior teams,” Troy says enthusiastically.

Competitions will be starting up too, which teams are being reminded match fees are required for both juniors and seniors. However, for the juniors, Active Kid vouchers can be used towards their match fees.

Players who are referees are being encouraged to come forward and offer their talents too. “I can never have too many referees,” Troy laughs.

“So if players are wanting to ref games outside of their team timeslots they can, they just need to let us know.”

This year’s registrations are to be completed online at: www.pcycnsw.org.au/orange

“The important thing to remember is the change in nomination processes will mean you will need to get online and go to our website to do the membership and attach your registration online,” Troy explains.

Registration costs for the juniors will cost $35 per player and seniors being $50 per player. This includes membership and competition registration.

And/or for any potential players and teams thinking about registering for this futsal season and need more information, they can contact Troy on (02) 6360 2249.
