FoodCare Christmas Hampers are Back

FoodCare Orange committee member, Sue Clarke

FoodCare are set to keep on giving this Christmas as the ever-popular Christmas Hampers have made a return.

Put together by Foodbank Australia, a large food rescue organisation in Sydney, at just $20 a hamper, they are great value for money.

The Christmas hamper is full of goodies including tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, pasta, lollies and more.

“They were really popular last year so we thought it was worth trying again,” FoodCare Orange committee member, Sue Clarke said. “The only requirement is that the customers spend $8 before they are eligible to purchase a hamper.”

FoodCare Orange is inclusive of families, singles and all ages who are enduring financial hardships and no registrations are required.

Sue has been with the FoodCare family for five years and noted the need for the organisation was certainly on the rise.

“Over the Covid period I had a chance to do some volunteering in the shop and got to know how it all worked, you really do become so fond of the customers.

“We’d also like to thank our community, they have been so generous with their food donations, it’s been such a bumper crop in people’s backyards with all of the rain that we’ve had, they have been donating some fabulous homegrown produce.”

FoodCare will be open over the Christmas period, from December 22 to January 4.

If you have food donations you’d like to drop off to FoodCare you can do so during their opening hours; Tuesday 10:30- 1pm, Wednesday 10:30- 1pm and Thursday 10:30 – 1pm – 4:30-6pm.
