Cadia donates big for Salvos Digital Door Knock

Cadia Valley Operations dug a little deeper this year, donating an extra $5,000 towards the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal.

Like so many other events this year, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Salvos to cancel their annual door knock fundraiser, moving the Red Shield Appeal online. But without the army of volunteers going door to door, the Salvos were expecting a shortfall in funds, particularly tragic since the pandemic has only increased the hardship of Australians who were already experiencing homelessness, unemployment, and domestic violence.

Given the situation, Cadia decided to more than tripled their usual donation to the Salvos this year.

“We have been a longstanding supporter of the Salvation Army, typically donating $2,000 each year towards the Red Shield Appeal, as well as supporting the Christmas Toy Drive,” said Cadia Acting General Manager, Aaron Brannigan.

“Due to the impact of COVID-19 on this year’s doorknock campaign, we decided to provide an additional $5,000 to support the vital work of the Salvation Army in our local community.”

The donation of $7,000 towards the 2020 Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal came from Cadia’s COVID-19 Community Support Fund.

The appeal may have ended but you can still donate to the Salvos and help Australian in need.
