A Day for Beyond Blue

On Saturday June 27 [this Saturday], Nextra in the Orange City Centre will be hosting a Beyond Blue Day from 9am-3pm.

The aim of the day will be raising funds to help with suicide prevention and supporting mental wellbeing of everyone, as we know, times at the moment have been tough for everybody.

Store owner, Tracey Pluis explained, “My main motivation for this fundraiser is due to losing one of our good friends recently, so we are doing it in his memory. If we can save one life from doing this, it’s achieved something.

“We will be donating 10% of all sales of the giftware range on the day and we will have Beyond Blue pamphlets there so if anyone just wants to come in and grab a pamphlet no fuss, they are welcome to just come in and grab one. There will also be a raffle drawn on the day with products and services from other businesses involved, (for sale at Nextra now, $2 each or three for $5), with some lucky door prizes as well.

“I think the main reason I bought the store is so I could maybe, do better, do better things for people, and use it as an avenue to assist others. You don’t buy small businesses to get rich that’s for sure,” Tracey laughed, “But you can certainly use it to assist others.”

Tracey and her team have a goal of raising $2,500 on the day. The money will then be given to Beyond Blue where it will then be dispersed to different programs for those in need.

“We are just trying to do what we can to raise some important funds for a really important topic. If we can provide money towards a service, where in their weakest moment they can call. To me, that’s an important thing.”

For the kiddies (and the big kiddies) there will be delicious cupcakes and balloons as well.

Tracey continued, “We will be in crazy costumes and we will make an additional donation ($3.00) a person, anyone that comes dressed vibrantly in blue. Maybe you can’t help financially or buy raffle tickets, but if you come in a crazy blue outfit like a Smurf, we will make an extra donation.”

Let’s get behind a great cause Orange.
