Vote for Tzzy!

13-year-old Matilda ‘Tzzy’ Taylor is looking to make a hit again this year in the global drumming competition Hit Like a Girl.

The contest is all about attracting attention to and supporting female percussionists, with entrants from all over the world submitting a performance video uploaded to YouTube and a brief bio telling their drumming story.

Tzzy was voted Popular Champion in last year’s contest in the under 13 age group, which won her a scholarship with global music education company The School of Rock. It was this connection that led to the successful Beach to Bush youth music festival in the Northcourt in February.

This year Tzzy is stepping up to the 13-17 years category and your vote could help secure her another win.

“For this year’s entry in Hit Like a Girl I’ve chosen the song ‘Carry on Wayward Son’ by Kansas,” said Tzzy, “because it has multiple time changes, it is a little different to what I usually play and it is one of my all-time favourite songs.”
