JAM Orange watch party – live, local and online!

Public gatherings are on hold but that hasn’t stopped JAM Orange finding a way to help local musicians to showcase their talent.

This Sunday at 6pm, JAM Orange will be holding a Facebook Live event featuring a line-up of local musicians.

“We are trying to take our Open Mic night online,” said JAM Orange committee member Mark Welch.

“What we are doing is asking people to submit a video of them performing and then we can create a YouTube playlist. Then we have a host a do a Facebook livestream and then present the playlist —almost like a guest presenter on Rage type idea.”

The logistics are still being ironed out, but Mark said this will just be the first on many other online events they plan to do.

“The idea is then each time we will have a different person hosting and possibly featuring a different genre, so for example on one we might have all the international artists who have performed for JAM in the past,” he said.

Any local artist is welcome to submit a video for the online Open Mic.

“We don't want to go quiet in this time of social isolation,” said Mark. “We want to keep active and give our members an opportunity, an outlet, to put their work out there and keep going.”
