Orange City Unite
When it comes to rallying together, Orange City Rugby Club takes lead.
In December last year the club lost an overwhelming estimated $25,000 when their grounds were vandalised and grandstand set alight, determined to rise above, the club was eagerly awaiting to tackle the new season head on.
With the 2020 season at a halt, the rugby club have been adapting to find new ways to support one another, their sponsors and the community.
Club board member, Tamara Grant explained, “Without local business support we wouldn’t have our club, so it’s our turn to try and do our bit and support them when they need us most.
We are all in this together and we as a club, can do our bit by purchasing our coffees, wine, our dinners and general business needs from these businesses that have always donated to our club when we needed them. It’s the months and years ahead where they will need us and we will ensure we can do what we can to help.”
The club is also keeping a focus on player wellbeing during this time of social isolation, “With further restrictions on outside gatherings individuals are left to their own devices with home gyms and fitness. So, for us it’s just about keeping communication open and reaching out to players regularly with what’s going on. Sport is a big part of our small community and for many, it’s their social lives, so it’s important our members know and we constantly ensure not only players, but any member of the club that they can reach out to, at any time.”
