World Day of Prayer
On Friday 6 March, 81 Christians from across Orange came together at the Salvation Army Church for the World Day of Prayer.
The country of focus this year was Zimbabwe, with some local folk from Zimbabwe attending. The theme was "Rise! Take you mat & walk".
A letter from Zimbabwe was read by Sehlahi Moyo and guest speaker was Martha Dennis.
The World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women who welcome all to join in prayer and action for peace and justice. The Orange congregation joined with people in over 150 countries around the world, in 88 different languages, to pray for Zimbabwe. The service was prepared in Zimbabwe by members of the World Day of Prayer committee.
An offering of $1,435 was raised for the Bible Society Project —Empowering Mothers of Children with a Disability. The program works to reduce the stigma and isolation of mothers of children with a disability in Zimbabwe. It’s about encouraging churches in Zimbabwe to be places of support, inclusion and community for children with disabilities and for their mothers.
Financial support is vital as The Bible Society aims to help 10,000 people live a full and flourishing life.
