Discover carefree retirement living

Oak Tree Retirement Village Orange on Ploughmans Lane is opening its doors to the public this week, offering you a glimpse of life in one of their stylish independent living communities.

This Friday and Saturday from 10am to 2pm you can explore the Village facilities and inspect the newly-built 2 and 3 bedroom villas they have available.

Operating in Orange since 2015, 82 of the planned 93 villas have been constructed with stage 11 due to commence in the next two weeks.

Village manager Marc Fife said he expects the final stage of villas to be snapped up quickly.

“This is the biggest village in Australia for Oak Tree, so there are over 100 residents here now, it is proving very popular,” said Marc.

“People still want their independence, but they don't want the maintenance involved with having their own home. At Oak Tree, you are not really having to do anything when you move in. Yes, there is a fee involved every week, but it includes your council rates, your water and sewerage service, all the maintenance - there is a bus that goes to town three times a week and then all the maintenance on the villas they purchase and all the landscaping is done by Oaktree.

“It means they can come here, have that independence, without having to do all that maintenance. So that seems to be the main attractor.”

The villas themselves (priced between at $335,000 up $395,000) are purpose-built and beautifully appointed. Each 2 and 3 bedroom villa is thoughtfully designed, completely step-free, with open plan living, full kitchens, practical indoor and outdoor living zones, bedrooms with built-in wardrobes, and functional bathrooms.

Plus, said Marc, living at Oak Tree is also being part of a community of like-minded people and there are a variety of facilities at your disposal.

“We have a large Village Centre with an arts room, a full kitchen, a large screen TV, pool table, a full bowling green and there is also a putting green, so there are lots of facilities for the residents,” he said.

“And we normally have regular barbeques during non COVID times. Plus, there is Wentworth Golf Course right across the road, which will have a new clubhouse coming soon. Quite a few residents play golf and go get drinks and meals at the club.”

But tomorrow and Saturday you get to see the Oak Tree lifestyle for yourself, said Marc.

“Come along 10am to 2pm Friday and Saturday. There’ll be a banner out the front and I have staff coming from other centres to give me a hand,” he said.

“We have the MERV Coffee van here and we'll cater food for visitors as well. So, come along, come into the village centre and we'll have people here to take you on a tour of our facilities and walk you around the complex.”

You’ll find Oak Tree Retirement Village opposite Wentworth Golf Club at 109 Ploughmans Lane Orange NSW 2800.
