Blayney kids walkin’ a mile for autism

Vowing to walk 10,000 paces a day for more than a week, pre-schoolers and staff from Blayney Early Learners are raising awareness of issues to do with autism.

Walk for Autism involves children and staff from the facility taking daily walks around Blayney over eight days as well as fund-raising for Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect).

“Each day we’re doing 10,000 steps for eight straight days, going on walks with the children,” staffer Libby Mcfeeters explained.

“We’re doing afternoon teas with families as well; it’s about supporting all children,” fellow staffer Johannah Francis added.

Autism spectrum affects millions of Australians with symptoms including over-sensitivity to sounds, touch, tastes, smells or light which cause sensory overload and make physical and social situations challenging

Autism Spectrum Australia works in partnership with people of all ages on the autism spectrum, providing a tailored support journey that continually adapts to the needs of each person.
