Funding opportunity for local volunteer, not-for-profit, and community groups

Local charities, not-for-profits and community groups are being urged to put in an application for $700,000 in funding up for grabs from the IMB Bank Community Foundation.

Schools, sporting, charity and volunteer organisations, plus larger bodies including Lions Clubs Australia, Rotary Australia, Vision Australia, Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, Scouts Australia, the SES, St Johns Ambulance, and Royal Life Saving Australia have all benefited from Community Foundation funding over the past 20 years.

“We want to hear from people or groups with an idea to support their community, whether they are new projects in need of seed funding, or projects already in operation that are looking to expand,” said IMB Bank CEO Robert Ryan.

Past projects have ranged from the establishment of recycling programs and Men’s Sheds, through to public walkways, school gardens, youth driver training, mental health, first aid training and increased security for victims of domestic violence.

“We know many incredible groups across our target regions are working hard to improve their communities and the people living in them. Sometimes, all that’s needed to turn a great idea into a tangible benefit is the funding,” said Mr Ryan. “It all starts with an application. So, if someone has a great idea and vision for their community, it’s important to apply for funding now. Together we can make our communities better for everyone.”

Community groups are encouraged to go to www.imb.com.au/communityfoundations to apply before February 28.
