Members and guests of the Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak met for a very special breakfast at the Waratah Sports Club last Wednesday to recognise members of our community who have gone above and beyond and shown extraordinary service through their chosen career.

The annual Pride of Workmanship Awards are a long-standing initiative of Rotary Club, said Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak Vocational Director Charlie Fisher.

“The Pride of Workmanship Awards are designed to recognise people who provide extraordinary service within their field of endeavour,” said Mr Fisher.

“Club members nominate people from different walks of life who they run into, people who provide good service to the general customer. It is mostly about recognising good customer service and having pride in what you do.”

This year the club president Alison Bennett handed out six awards to recipients from the plumbing, hospitality and motor industry: Maree Masman of Tates Plumbing, Peter Ball of Peter Ball Mechanical (absent), Jamie Harris of West Orange Motors, Patrick Allen of Waratah Sports Club, Merindah Rivers of Trinity Preschool, and Robert Barber of West Orange Motors.

Robert Barber’s presentation was an extra special one for the Club. He received the inaugural Denis Morgan Pride of Workmanship Award, named after former president and long-standing club member Denis Morgan, who passed away in 2018.

The award will now be presented annually for outstanding commitment to the motor industry.
