Grant funding available
The call is now out for Not-for-profit and charity organisations projects in the Central West region to apply for grant funding from Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation. The latest funding round opens on Monday, 17 September and closes on Monday 29 October.
Charitable Foundation Executive Officer Graham Batten is urging all eligible local organisations seeking
funding for community projects and initiatives to make a submission before the funding round closes.
“We invite all charity organisations in the area seeking support for projects that address important community issues to apply for a grant from the Charitable Foundation.
“We are looking for projects that support our mission to help people who are disadvantaged or marginalised and support social opportunity and development in our Australian regional communities,” Graham said
To assist with the application process, staff and volunteers from local community-based, not-for-profit and Deductable Gift Recipient organisations are invited to attend a free workshop on how to apply for a funding grant from 11am on Tuesday, 25 September at Rydges Mount Panorama, Bathurst, with details below.
“The two-hour workshop will explain how to apply for grant funding, how applications are assessed, and the types of community projects that have been funded to date,” Graham said.
“Not-for-profit and charity organisations will also have the opportunity to meet members of the Newcastle
Permanent Charitable Foundation team and network with other local not-for-profit and charity organisations.
“I encourage anyone who is interested in submitting a grant application to attend one of our workshops. The feedback we’ve received from past attendees is that what they learned at the workshop was invaluable in preparing their funding application,” Graham said.
Over the past financial year, the Charitable Foundation donated more than $86,000 for projects in the Central West including youth mental health program batyr@school, the National Stroke Foundation’s Stroke Ambassador Program and the Macquarie Home Stay’s outdoor area for regional families travelling to Dubbo for medical treatment.
“We hold two funding rounds a year to encourage local not-for-profit organisations which need assistance with worthwhile community programs in the Central West region and we look forward to assisting many more,” Graham said.
Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation distributes more than $1.5 million each year to facilitate
charitable projects that address disadvantage in local communities throughout the Hunter, Central West,
Central Coast, New England, Mid North Coast and Northern Rivers regions of NSW. Since its establishment in 2003, the Foundation has provided more than $18.3 million to 435 community projects and initiatives.
