Earlier this week Legacy House in Orange took the opportunity to thank ongoing long-term supporters, Newcrest Cadia Valley Mines and LJ Hooker Real Estate.

Established in 1948, Legacy is a voluntary organisation dedicated to caring for the families of deceased and incapacitated veterans. It is supported by veterans, servicemen and women, and volunteers drawn from all walks of life.

Cadia’s Superintendant Environment and Community Relations, Jeff Burton said “We are very pleased to be supporting a local charity, Orange Legacy do fantastic work within the community.”

Chairman of the finance committee Orange Legacy, John Holman continued, “We have something like 400 widows who look to us in support, this is in the western divisions. We help them with power bills in the winter time, we may even help in education. Interestingly there is something like six Orange people from the 19th Battalion here, that train as part time professionals, when they finish their training they are just as well trained as permanent army people. Few of them are in Afghanistan at the moment.”

LJ Hooker Owner, Pat Cutcliffe added, “John and Knox and everyone provide great support services to War veterans, we see it as a very worthy cause to support them, we know the money goes straight to the source.”
