Community spirit at its best!

In the two years since the Ashcroft’s kicked off their Let’s Make Better Charity, the Orange Community has rallied behind many worthy local causes, but none more so that the current plight of our farmers during this devastating drought.

“It has been overwhelming. In all the campaigns we have done, I think the farmers have been the biggest supported program,” said Let’s Make Better founder, Rochelle Ashcroft.

“People just really want to help. It is amazing what people are wanting to donate.”

Over the past few weeks, people have been making donations of cash, food and other household items at both the Peisley Street and Summer Centre Supa IGA Supermarkets.

“It would be well above $15,000 in money and food just over the last two three weeks; people have been incredibly generous,” Ms. Ashcroft said.

Let’s Make Better have partnered with Aussie Helpers to make sure the donations get to those who need it.

“They deliver it directly to farmers, which I like about it,” said Ms Ashcroft. “Then we are also supporting drought angels with the raindrop tokens in store. We are well on the way to selling thousands of them for $2 and 100 per cent of that money goes to farmers via Drought Angels.”

Let’s Make Better is a local charity run out of the Ashcroft’s two Orange IGA Supermarkets that promises 100 per cent of funds raised go back into the community.
