TAFE Open Day offers school leavers a taste
As the HSC approaches, local school leavers are being urged to take a break from the books and head to a hands-on Open Day at TAFE NSW Orange this Saturday, a chance to get a taste of vocational training and education options for next year.
“TAFE NSW students are in high demand because of the quality of their education and ability to hit the ground running with the job-ready skills that employers are looking for,” said TAFE NSW Relieving Regional General Manager Adam Bennett.
TAFE NSW already delivers courses for nine of the 10 most in-demand jobs, he said, in areas such as Animal Care, Hospitality, IT, Early Childhood Education and Care, Nursing, Health, Beauty, Hairdressing and Construction.
“Choosing TAFE NSW is great option not only for school leavers and people looking to secure their first job, but also those wanting to earn a promotion or embark on a career change,” Mr. Bennet said.
“Open Day will provide prospective students with an invaluable opportunity to explore the innovative range of courses and pathways to university, meet with award-winning teachers and explore the practical, hands-on facilities at TAFE NSW.”
Visitors to Orange’s Open Day can expect a large range of demonstrations and activities, including: Hospitality – Decorate your own cupcakes, learn how to make risotto and perfect the art of making mocktails; Hair and Beauty – Learn how to braid and style hair; Construction – Come and play giant Jenga with our interactive timber tower; Floristry – Learn how to wrap flowers; Horticulture – Learn how to propagate plants; Early Childhood Education and Care – Learn how to change nappies and calm crying babies; Nursing and Health – How to care for and move patients; and Animal Care – Working with
animals demonstrations.
The first 200 people on Saturday will receive a free coffee, there will be free bacon and egg rolls for breakfast and a sausage sizzle provided by a local Lions Club for lunch, live music, a live broadcast from 105.9 HitFM, rock climbing, Aboriginal art workshops and much more.
The Open Day will be held at TAFE NSW Orange in March Street 10am to 2pm Saturday 18 August, 2018.
