$100,000 handover
This week, a very proud Canobolas Lions Club handed over a cheque of $100,000 to enable the Orange Health Service to purchase a transperineal machine.
Member of the Canobolas Lions Club Norm Bembrick explains what it is –
“This transperineal machine is very computerised but basically it detects prostate cancer early and there is also a less chance of infection. That is its main function and there are some in Sydney, but this is the only public one in the country.”
This machine will replace other existing technology and the doctors and staff of the Orange Hospital were thrilled to receive the transperineal machine.
Orange Health Service General Manager, Catherine Nowlan said, “This is a fabulous addition to our hospital and we’re extremely grateful to the Canobolas Lions Club for working so hard and raising the funds to enable us to purchase this advanced technology”.
The total cost of the machine was $260,000 with the NSW Government providing the remaining $160,000 for it. The transperineal machine will be a great asset to the community and to the Central West.
