The Whitney Fountain in Robertson Park was lit up in the colour red, one of dozens of landmarks and other buildings across Australia to turn red on Wed 7 September.

It was August’s council meeting that passed a motion from Cr Duffy and Kidd to support September 7th as World Duchenne Awareness Day .

The annual event highlights what is the most common and life-limiting form of Muscular Dystrophy – Duchenne.

This year the focus is on early diagnosis. Some boys (and more rarely, girls) are left undiagnosed until 6 or even 8 yrs old by which time strengthening treatments may be less effective.
