Applications Open Until 31 October 2016

Applications are now open for Variety Scholarships, helping children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs reach their potential in the fields of art, music, sport or education.

Variety – the Children’s Charity provides the scholarships program to help kids under 19 explore their passion or talent. Up to $5,000 per child is available annually through the program to cover training costs, equipment, skills-based courses and more.

More than 130 children have been assisted by the Variety Scholarships program since it began in 2014.

Parents, education or medical professionals who know a child who needs support can apply online at

Applications are open until 31 October 2016 and will be announced in early 2017 at a Scholarship Presentation Evening to recognise the special talents and skills of the recipients.

Variety NSW CEO Tam Johnston said the Variety Scholarships Program helps kids build on their existing talent and enthusiasm for their passion.

“A Variety scholarship can help remove some of the barriers which can prevent talented kids from pursuing their dreams and fully exploring their potential,” said Ms Johnston.

“No request is too small or too specialised when it comes to applying for a Variety scholarship. In the past we’ve helped kids with art, trampoline and dance classes as well as helping others attend sports tournaments and buy equipment.

“Ultimately Variety wants to help open doors to opportunities for education, social inclusion, wellbeing and a bright future that may otherwise be out of reach for children.”
